Mental health has become a critical topic facing our campuses and sorority. Next year, Alpha Delta Pi will implement the second part of “Behind Happy Faces,” a program that launched earlier this school year. It is designed to give members the tools they need to address mental health proactively. Tracy Garner, Zeta Omicron, will match up to $2,500 to the Annual Fund (our area of greatest need) in support of this program. During Grand Convention this summer, Dr. Suzette Walden Cole, Beta Sigma, will present a workshop session entitled “New Leaders of Tomorrow: Cultural Competency is Ensuring Everyone’s Asked to Dance.” Vernā Myers offered, “Diversity is inviting everyone to the party, inclusion is ensuring everyone is asked to dance.” This session is designed to have leaders reflect on their own cultural lens to enable them to be more effective in their role and serving their campus community. Lucy Love, Epsilon Omicron, will address how to market your sorority experience as transferable and industry-specific job skills during her Grand Convention workshop “From Collegian to CEO: Translating the Sorority Experience to Workplace Skills.” Thank you to Cheryl Barnhard King, Gamma Xi, for continuing our Convention Workshop Challenges on Day of Giving in support of this program. We continue to see a disproportionate number of women in CEO positions and in corporate leadership across fields. Mary Simeoli, Esq., Theta Theta, will share the theory of "Amplification" and the "Shine Theory" with participants during her Grand Convention workshop “Amp It Up: Turning Up the Volume for the Sake of Sisterhood.” Thank you to Dawn Victor-Herring, Zeta Eta, for continuing our Convention Workshop Challenges on Day of Giving in support of this program. During Grand Convention, Sam Schmitt, Delta Kappa, will share her experience as Former VP of Standards for Penn State Panhellenic will share her efforts to create effective cultural change through social events, risk management, and women's empowerment on her campus. Her workshop “Redefining the Sorority Social Experience from the Student Leader Perspective” will focus on how to create change and empower a community of women. It’s time to Own It. Attendees will discuss the importance of professional confidence and how to use experiences to leverage career opportunities and professional networks. Leah Barnett, Theta Psi, and Kelsey Pasco, Theta Pi, will address these concepts during their Grand Convention workshop “Own It: Building Your Professional Confidence to Jumpstart Your Career.” Thank you to Jan Alexander Maisch, Epsilon Omega, for continuing our Convention Workshop Challenges on Day of Giving in support of this program. Anna Baldasarre, M.Ed., Delta Rho, will present “Quiet Leadership: Strategies for Introverted Leaders” during Grand Convention, addressing common leadership challenges that introverts face and offering strategies to improve leadership capacity and how to use introverted strengths for success. Rae Ann Feldner Gruver, Zeta Nu, and her husband Stephen founded the Max Gruver Foundation following the tragic hazing death of their son Max in 2017. This summer, Alpha Delta Pi continues its partnership with the Max Gruver Foundation with Rae Ann Gruver speaking during an educational session at Grand Convention. Rae Ann will share the story of Max’s death and answer questions specific to how others can help to put an end to hazing on college campuses. Starting at 9 a.m. EDT, Emily Erkel, Zeta Chi, will match gifts to the Annual Fund, our area of greatest need, up to $1,000 in support of this program and our continued efforts to prevent and end hazing once and for all.
